Implied duties of the employer
To pay reasonable remuneration.
To indemnify employees for properly incurred expenses.
To take reasonable care for the safety of their employees e.g. safe plant and
machinery, safe system of work and reasonably competent fellow employees.
To give reasonable notice of termination of employment.
To maintain mutual co-operation, trust and confidence.
Note that there is generally no duty to:
Provide work, unless payment is by commission or piece work, or the employee
relies on publicity or needs to maintain their skills
Provide references (but, if they do so, they must be truthful).
