Plot the constraints for Irwin on a graph and identify the feasible region.

Solution

For example, plotting the testing time constraint:

It crosses the x axis when y = 0

Substituting this into the formula for testing time

= 120x + (180 × 0) = 52,500

120x = 52,500

x = 437.5 (this is where it cuts the x axis)

It crosses the y axis when x = 0

Substituting this into the formula for testing time

= (120 × 0) + 180y = 52,500

180y = 52,500

y= 291.7 (this is where it cuts the y axis)
