4.4 Vertical presentation of a statement of financial position
The statement of financial position presentation used so far is known as the
horizontal format. It may be thought of as representing a set of scales, whereby the
amount on each side of the centre is equal. In this way it can be said to balance.
In practice, a vertical presentation is used more often.
