Environmental Science (SCI101)
Course Description: Environmental Science is a year-long course designed to show thematic
connections between a variety of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, and physics. It
gives students a coherent and realistic picture of the applications of a variety of scientific concepts as
they manifest in our environment. During this first semester of environmental science, students will
focus on human population growth, natural resources, and ecosystem dynamics. The aim of this
course to increase students’ knowledge of the environmental challenges of today, while continuing to
cultivate scientific critical thinking skills.
Pre-Requisite: None
Physical Science (SCI301)
Course Description: The course is designed as an introduction to f the major concepts in chemistry
and physics. The course includes concepts such as: structure of atoms, periodic table principles,
motion, forces, conservation of matter and energy, gravity, machines, electricity and the behavior of
waves. These concepts are investigated through laboratory experiences designed to promote and
develop appropriate skills in science inquiry.
Pre-Requisite: Either Environmental Science (SCI101) or Biology (SCI201)
