    403(b) Retirement Plan
Northern Human Services offers a 403(b) retirement plan that provides eligible employees the potential opportunity for future financial security in retirement.
Northern sponsors a 403(b) plan which is available to all eligible employees, who are regularly scheduled to work twenty (20) hours or more per week, or at least 1000 per year. Employees are eligible to defer (contribute) to the Plan at any time and may enroll to make contributions at any time after their start date by completing the appropriate forms. In addition to your own contributions, Northern provides all eligible employees with an employer contribution to the 403(b) savings plan.
Employees become eligible for the Employer contribution of 2% of gross wages on January 1st or July 1st following satisfaction of 12 months of service in which 1000 hours were worked. This deposit will be made whether or not you have contributed into the 403(b) plan to date. Please contact Human Resources or your Office manager for full eligibility detail sand requirements.
Contributing to a 403(b) account offers a pre-tax reduction to your current year income tax liability which is in addition to the benefits of tax-deferred growth in your 403(b) account. With tax deferral, you pay no taxes on the income in your account until the money is withdrawn (penalties may apply); therefore, you can earn income in the account on the money that would otherwise have been subject to taxes.
If you have not already established an account, please see your Office Manager to obtain the form to identify your fund choices, otherwise the deposit will go to a target date default fund.
Please contact your local Office Manager or Human Resources for forms or if you have any questions.
The Nationwide platform of funds are offered and information is available at Nationwide.com. You may also contact our Financial Advisor, Tim Dabrieo for questions or to gather more information.
Tuition Assistance Program
The Board of Directors (“Board”) of Northern Human Services (“NHS”) seeks to provide financial support to employees who participate in external educational courses as funds are available which meet the criteria outlined in this Policy. Such support is intended to enhance employees' professional development and their skills and knowledge related to the mission of NHS. The Tuition Assistance Program is an IRS tax-exempt program and the following guidelines are critical to our being able to offer this tax-free tuition reimbursement process.
