Background: Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Rofeh Delmedigo, known as Yashar Mi-Qandia, was born in 1591. At the age of 15, he began to study logic and the laws of nature, philosophy, mathematics and medicine at the University of Padua. Galileo Galilei was one of his teachers.“He would say that all secular disciplines are ladders in order to reach knowledge of G-d, and was annoyed at the rabbis׳ and roshei yeshivas׳ rejection of secular knowledge; for it was ours in previous generations, and it came from the innards of Judah.״ His many works deal with a wide range of elds: astronomy, algebra, chemistry and mechanics, kabbalah, translations of Greek texts, Copernicus׳s claims, a book on paradoxes, a debate with Aristotle׳s claims, a book of logic and more. Some of his books were not printed.
Condition: Fine. Minimal stains and slight tears. Dismantled binding.

רקע: רבי יוסף שלמה רופא דילמידגו, המכונה יש״ר מהאי קנדיאה, נולד בשנת שנ״א [1591]. בהיותו בן 15 נכנס ללמוד באוניברסיטת פדובה הגיון וחכמות הטבע, פילוסופיה וחקירת האמונה העיונית, מתמטיקה ורפואה. אחד ממוריו היה גליליאו גליליי. “והיה אומר כי כל החכמות הן סולמות להגיע על ידן אל ידיעת האלקות בקדש, ומתרעם על שהרבנים וראשי הישיבות מואסים בחכמה; כי אמנם בדורות קדמונים היתה היא שלנו, וממעי יהודה יצאה״. חיבוריו הרבים עוסקים במגוון תחומי ידע: אסטרונומיה, אלגברה, כימיה ומכניקה, חכם קבלה, תרגומים של כתבי יוונים, טענות קופרניקוס, ספר על פרדוקסים, ויכוח עם טענות אריסטו,
ספר היגיון ועוד. חלק מספריו לא הודפסו. מצב: טוב. מעט כתמים וקרעים קלים. כריכה מפורקת.
