חמשה חומשי תורה עם הפטרות וחמש מגלות, ועם באור המלות בלשון אשכנזי. וינה, [תקע״ה] 1815. עותק מיוחד שנועד לשבועת יהודים בבית המשפט. עם חתימת הצנזור קרל פישר.

מאפיינים יחודיים: עותק מיוחד שנועד להשבעת עדים יהודים בבית המשפט הנוכרי. על פי היתר מיוחד יכלו היהודים להישבע בבית המשפט על חומש יהודי. לצורך כך, נכתבו ונחתמו בעותק שלפנינו פרטי הדבר. על דף הפרוזץ כתב וחתם בגרמנית בכתב יד, קרל פישר - הצנזור שהוכר על ידי בית המלוכה. המסמך נחתם בשנת 1824. פריט היסטורי,
שעמד לשימוש ציבורי.
רקע: כנהוג בתקופה ההיא נצטוו היהודים להניח את היד בין דפי הספר, ולהצביע על פסוק מסויים בשעת השבועה. בעותק שלפנינו יש סימונים בדף צח בפרשת הקללות שבפרשת בחוקותי. המלומד וההבראיסט קרל פישר [1757 - 1844 ], שימש צנזור מטעם הקיסר, וכעורך ומתרגם לעברית של בית המלוכה. היה גוי אוהב ישראל, שהתייחס ליהודים ולרבנים במיוחד בכבוד רב, ויחסי ידידות שררו בינו לבין ראב״ד וינה רבי אלעזר פלעקלש. גם בשערי הספרים של בעל ה׳נודע ביהודה׳ חתום קרל פישר, שאף הביע דעתו על הספרים כספרים ראויים. הצנזור שלט היטב בלשון הקודש, והתכתב עם רבי אלעזר פלעקלש בלשון זו. בשו״ת תשובה מאהבה [חלק א, תשובה כו] נדפסה תשובה ארוכה ששלח רבי אלעזר פלעקלש לצנזור, אודות שבועת יהודים על ספר קודש בבית
משפט נוצרי.
מצב: למרות השימוש בו, נשמר במצב טוב-טוב מאד. קרע קל בשולי השער. כתמי זמן. כריכה מקורית משופשפת.

Unique Features: Chumash proofread according to several ancient chumashim. “Something new which has never been seen before,״ is added to Rashi׳s commentary, a reference to the sources of his words in the Bible, Midrash and Talmud. e references are in block script. With the supercommentary Devek Tov on Rashi, and with ‘thoughts and novellae׳ and glosses on Devek Tov by Rabbi Menachem Amelander. With Sefer HaChinuch on the pages of the chumash according to the verses of the Torah. is is the rst time that Sefer HaChinuch was printed in the order of the verses and not divided according to positive and negative commandments. In addition, the numbers of the commandments according to the Sefer HaChinuch are printed alongside the verses. With the ve megillot with Rashi׳s commentary and with the Targum Sheni on Megillat Esther.
ere are copies in which the book is divided into two volumes. e copy before is complete in only one volume. With one title page at the beginning and another title page before the haftarot.

e Five Books of the Torah with haphtarot and the ve megillot, with explanations of the words in Yiddish. Vienna, 1815. Special copy designated for Jews to take oaths in Court. With the signature of the censor Karl Fischer.
Speci cations: 163 [1], 43 leaves. 23 cm.
Unique Features: Special copy designated for swearing in Jewish witnesses in gentile courts. Jews were given special dispensation to take an oath in court on a Jewish Bible. As such, the details were written and signed in the copy before us. Handwritten inscription and signature in German, Karl Firscher - the censor authorized by the royal court - on the yleaf. e document was signed in 1824. Historical item, which was for public use.
Background: As was customary at the time, the Jews were commanded to place their hand in the pages of the book, and to point to a speci c verse while taking the oath. In the copy before us, there are marks on page 98 in the section of the curses in the portion of Bechukotai.
Condition: Despite its use, the book is in ne-very ne condi- tion. Slight tear in the margins of the title page. Aging stains. Original scu ed binding.
