317 Long Letter from Rabbi Yechiel

Letter in the handwriting and with the signature of the Admor of Ozharov, with instructions for the person preparing his book for print.

Unique Features: At several points in the letter, the Admor notes his great weakness which has prevented him from writ- ing. ere are several places in the letter where he writes brie y and notes that he cannot continue writing. In the letter he asks “that you meet with a Torah scholar to verify it and ask them to pray for me ... Moshe Yechiel son of Reitza Mirel,״ who is “in ״.dangerous condition
In the letter, there are many instructions for the worker publish- ing his book to act seriously, without being distracted from the holy work, by fasting, prayer, ritual immersion, charity, receiving blessings from genuine Torah scholars, reciting the entire book of Tehillim on Shabbat, going to the graves of his holy fathers and more,“because this is not just any book ... this is for the public good for the service of G-d ... and if he should put e ort into His service with all of his heart and soul ... and know to where these words are reaching, and pray and beg ... that G-d desires that he succeed ... and we should acheive this in the merit of the holy forefathers.״ He also asks to purchase the books of Rabbi Yehuda Ashlag who “seems to be a wonderful linguist with a wondrous style,״ and asks for details about him.

על הכנת ספרו לדפוס.
מפרט: [4] עמ׳, נייר. 19x25 ס״מ. מאפיינים יחודיים: האדמו״ר מציין מספר פעמים במכתב את חולשתו
הרבה, שמנעה ממנו לכתוב. ופעמים רבות במכתב הוא מקצר ומציין שאינו יכול להמשיך ולכתוב. בתוך המכתב הוא מבקש “שיתראה עם איזה ת״ח לאמתו ויבקשם שיתפללו עלי... משה יחיאל בן ריצה מירל״,
שהוא “במצב של סכנה ל״ע״.
במכתב ישנם הנחיות רבות לעובד על הוצאת ספרו שיפעל בכובד ראש, בלא הסחת הדעת מעבודת הקודש, בשילוב תענית, תפילה, טבילה, צדקה, קבלת ברכות מתלמידי חכמים אמיתיים, קריאת ספר תהלים בשלמותו בכוונה בשבת, הליכה על קברי אבותיו הקדושים ועוד, “כי אין זה ספר בעלמא... רק שזה לטובת הכלל לעבודתו ית׳... ואם בכל לבבו ונפשו ישתדל בעבודתו, וידע עד היכן הדברים מגיעים, ויתפלל ויתחנן...שחפץ ה׳ יצלח... וזכות אבוה״ק זי״ע שנזכה לזה״. עוד הוא מבקש לקנות את ספרי הרה״ג ר״י אשלג, ש״נראה שהוא בעל לשון
וסגנון נפלא״, והוא מבקש לדעת עליו פרטים אודותיו.
רקע: הרב הצדיק רבי משה יחיאל הלוי אפשטיין [תר״ן-תשל״א, -1889 1971], האדמו״ר מאוז׳רוב חנצ׳ין, נולד באוז׳זרוב לאביו, רבי אברהם שלמה ששימש כאב״ד ואדמו״ר בעיר. בגיל 22 החל לשמש כאדמו״ר בעצמו. בשנת תרפ״ו [1926] היגר לאמריקה, ועלה לארץ בשנת תשי״ג [1953]. היה חבר מועצת גדולי התורה וחתן פרס ישראל לספרות תורנית בשנת תשכ״ח [1968]. חיבר את הספרים ‘אש דת׳ ו׳באר
