U.S. News and World Report Short List ranked Claflin University fifth on its list of the nation’s top 10 colleges and universities in alumni giving percent-
age during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 academic years. In that period, the institutions with the highest percentage of undergraduate alumni do-
nors boasted an average giving rate of 51.5 percent. Claflin, the only historically black college/university (HBCU) that appears in the Top 10, saw its
average percentage of alumni who donated increase from 47.7 per cent in 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 to 50.4 percent in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.
Claflin University is ranked#1 in alumni giving among Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the nation. Princeton University was ranked first
with 60.8 percent alumni giving.
Claflin University was selected the 2015 AARP/HBCU Digest HBCU of the year. * U.S. News and World Report has consistently ranked Claflin as one of
“America’s Best Colleges” for the past 17 years. In the 2016 edition, Claflin was again ranked a top tier national liberal arts college. Claflin was also
ranked eighth nationally among Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This ranking measures tuition, enrollment, acceptance rate, retention,
and graduation rate. * Claflin University continues to be recognized as a top-ranked liberal arts college by Washington Monthly. In its 2014 “Best
Liberal Arts Colleges” edition Claflin is the number one-ranked liberal arts college in South Carolina and the top Historically Black Colleges and Uni-
