The Boxford Fire Department continues to serve the Town 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The
department is staffed Monday through Friday (8:00am to 4:00pm) with two career firefighters
and the Chief. The remaining hours are covered by the call firefighters who respond via a pager
               system.

The past year the department hired a new fire chief (Brian Geiger) following the retirement of
Kerry Stickney and hired a career firefighter (Matthew Dyer) following Lieutenant Brian
               Geiger’s promotion to Chief.

               NEW FIREFIGHTERS
We are happy to welcome six new members plus one returning firefighter. The new recruits
completed an eight week in-house training program consisting of basic fire and medical skills.
                                                                  st
The new firefighters started responding September 1 . Mr. John Dattilio, Mr. Ian Fitch, and Mr.
Michael Geiger (returning) are now responding out of the West Station. Mr. Timothy Gorman,
Mr. Patrick Gallagher, Mr. Ryan Merrigan and Mr. Dante Zizza are now responding out of the
               East Station.

               PROMOTIONS
It is my privilege to announce that both Firefighters Warren Gould and Alfred Bissell were
promoted to Lieutenant and Lieutenant Jack Leary was promoted to Captain.

               RESIGNATIONS
We would like to thank firefighters Thomas Bailey, Nick Beardsley, Mira Clark, Shane Clemens,
Peter Colangelo, EJ Cordeiro, Richard Lucius, Erik Slocum and Cameron Thorpe for their
contributions to the department. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

               SPECIAL THANK YOU
The Boxford Fire Department would like to thank Chief Kerry Stickney for his 44 years of
service as a Boxford Firefighter. As a firefighter, Chief Stickney will be tough to replace. He
brought professionalism to the job and always had the answer on how to solve a problem. As a
leader he was instrumental in moving the department forward, most evident in 2009 when he had
to replace both career firefighters who resigned within a few months of each other. His
dedication and hard work will forever be a positive impact not only for the firefighters of
Boxford but the Town as a whole.
