Acknowledgment
The author would like to acknowledge Ahmad Arif who has read and gave input on
the writing of this chapter. And also to Helena Suryadi, Gludhug Ariyo Purnomo, Chelzie
Crenna Darussalam, Isabella Apriyana, Windy Joanmawanti and everyone who were
involved in the project to complete this chapter. I would also like to express my gratitude
to all researchers of Genome Diversity and Diseases of Eijkman Institute for Molecular
Biology, who have been involved in designing the sampling strategy, collecting blood
samples in difficult areas, and conducting the DNA analysis. The sample collections were
also not possible without the assistance of colleagues from the local health agencies and
also all volunteers from all across Indonesia who were very enthusiastic to be part of this
study with one goal in mind, to find the origin of our ancestors.
