THE JAZZ SIPPER
3 pair of bespoke shoes from a representative of Benjamin Klemann the
master customized handmade shoe designer. It took 45 minutes just to
measure his feet for the custom fit and the introduction. Then he showed
Vance the seven types of designs he could order, their names were The
Derby, The Oxford, The Fullbroque, The Semibroque, The Norwegian, The
Loafer and The Boot. Each type had a different design model associated with
them like The Derby, which was one of the three he had ordered, The
Lexington Square, was an all-black square toe soft leather shoe with a black
soft heel and sole. The other two Vance ordered was The Oxford, The Oxford
Cap was an all-black shoe, made of a soft leather that had a round toe and
hard heel, and the Norwegian, which model was called Oslo, a rusty color soft
leather shoe with a soft heel that had a round toe design to it. Vance even
bought Larry a Canali suit and pair of Benjamin Klemann shoes. Larry was
truly grateful; they would have to pick up the shoes the next time they were in
Naples. Vance had $12,000.00 he had saved from his hustling and paychecks
that he brought with him off the ship. Of the $12,000.00 Vance had about $4,
000.00 left. They continue checking out Italy and its nightlife. They ran into
the other guys from the band and checked out some live music venues and
clubs. But all Vance kept hearing in his head was the Jimmy Smith’s cut, The
Cat and the slick sound of his organ.
The next morning Vance woke up and got dress and met Larry and the rest
of the guys for some breakfast. Afterwards they held a practice session and
messed around the hotel until it was time to go to the gig. Everybody was
upbeat, the hotel was ecstatic that they practiced in the lobby and entertained
their other local and foreign guests. They sent up expensive looking bottles of
wine to each one of their rooms, they thought the guys were a major group
