Firstly, I want to congratulate all members who continue to make significant contributions to all aspects of the operations of the Club. During the 2020-21 season, patrolling members provided surf lifesaving services to the Sunshine Beach community, which saw our strong tradition of service and no lives lost between the flags enter its 39thyear. Thisisanachievementthateveryclub member should be proud of.
Over 240 of our active members donated 8217 valuable hours to our club to ensure our beach was a safe location for both locals and visitors. We had nearly 230 preventative actions with 21 major incidents and thankfully only 7 ambulance requests (this data is all pulled down from LIMSOC).
Our training team helped our members complete over 200 new awards, which is a huge achievement and a great way to help develop and future proof our Club. In addition to this they conducted numerous skills maintenance/proficiency sessions with over 1,000 awards being assessed to ensure our members are always up to date.
I would like to take this opportunity to recognise several key contributors; our Board of Directors, Committee Members, Life Members and Life Governor. These people invest a huge amount of time to ensure Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club continues to thrive and without them what we have achieved as a Club over the past twelve monthswouldnothavebeenpossible.
To our Club sponsors, thank you. Without the contributions made by each of our generous sponsors and supporters it would not be possible for us to maintain the high standard of public service for which Sunshine Beach SLSC is known.
Finally, to our Members; both active and associate. Your contributions on and off the beach and around the club is hugely appreciated. You are the heart and soul of our organisation and are what allows Sunshine Beach to be what it is today.
As always, it’s a pleasure and an honour to work with such a wonderful team. Thank you to everyone for a fantastic year; here’s to another great season in 2021-22
