HEADJOSH MINOGUE COACHE
It isn’t easy, that’s what makes it special.
It certainly was a special season for everyone involved in Surf Sports at Sunshine Beach – after the disappointment of 2020 this summer gave us an opportunity to finish the way we deserved too.
I want to start by saying a huge thankyou
to everyone for their passion, commitment, understanding and drive to make this season a success!
There are too many special moments and individual achievements to mention them all, but I honestly believe it was the things we had to overcome as a club that made me the proudest as a coach. The way the surf sports group bounced back from having no State and Aussies last summer; to swimming in the ocean for most of winter; having events constantly cancelled and even recently going into lockdown after the Senior State Champs in March, the challenges seemed never-ending.
But you never lost focus or passion and you finished the summer with everything you had.
We are lucky here at Sunshine Beach to have a coaching staff that is as professional, passionate and committed as any in the sport; and I am very grateful for their hard work and knowledge.
To Paul Gilmour, Pauline Gleeson, Lisa Worthington, Zion Pettigrove, Lachlan Lansdown and Alice Jones I want to say a massive Thankyou and congratulations.
Being successful in surf might seem like an individual pursuit but there is an entire family here who give up their time to support the competitors and their goals.
So thank you so much to everyone who has been involved in the Sunshine Surf Sports Team this summer.
A special thankyou needs to go to those who stepped up into jobs like team managers Brigid Duncanson, Tania Lewis, Craig Law, Jo Redwood, Jacquie Otto and Brian O’Connor – it’s a thankless job but I couldn’t do this without you.
To our Age Managers who ensure everyone is on the line and ready to go – thankyou as well – you’re coaches, parents, team managers, officials and psychologists all rolled into one, and you’re amazing.
Josh’s phenomenal surf skills are matched by his beach style!
