you think I am God?” Phil fell silent, not knowing what to say or do. Swami continued, “Yes I am God, and so are you! There is no difference.” Swami went on to say, “I did not come here for you to worship me. Worship God in any form or in the formless, as you choose, but worship Him fully.” Overwhelmed by this meeting and the total unconditional love coming in unending waves from Sai Baba, Phil dropped to the floor sobbing and hugged Sai Baba’s feet.
One evening aer Phil and his wife returned home, while discussing Swami’s knowledge about their lives, they wondered if Swami actually was aware of their current conversation. That night Phil awoke at about 5 a.m. and was drawn to a picture of Swami on the bedroom bureau. It was covered with vibhuti, both inside and outside the glass frame and was dripping with amrita (sweet nectar that Swami materializes called “nectar of the gods”). From that time on, Phil never doubted Sai Baba’s omnipresence and could sense his presence everywhere.
Seeing Sai’s Omnipresence
Sri V. K. Narasimhan, previous editor of Sanathana Sarathi1, tells how Swami helped him to literally see omnipresent divinity, which gave him confidence to tackle all tasks.
The first world conference of the Sai Organization in the West was held in Rome, Italy, in October 1983. There were six main sections, each addressing distinct spiritual topics, and it was my privilege to coordinate the section on science and spirituality. As coordinator, it was my job to read over papers submied for presentation, accept qualified papers, arrange for the timing of their presentation, and introduce the presenters. Mr. Narasimhan was the coordinator of another section and had a similar task of reading over many papers for presentation. He was an older gentleman with eyesight problems, and he required thick eyeglasses to see. How badly he felt when he realized on the plane to Rome that he had forgoen his glasses.
