The woman he had beaten was none other than Lord Krishna Himself! Her selfless and holy offering to Krishna made her one with Him. Not understanding this, the priest had actually aacked his Lord. Now aware, the priest fell at the statue’s feet and prayed for forgiveness. He learned that offerings done with a pure heart reach the Lord and those selfless acts merge the two into one. He also learned that God resides in the hearts of all.
Practice Balanced Vision
The ever deepening process by which we see Sai in all beings takes place over time. It requires steadfastness and balance. Both qualities are critical. We must not be turned away by inconvenience or embarrassment. Having a belief that God is omnipresent, we must find confirming evidence that He is near and dear. We cannot find a lost watch unless we are looking for it. Likewise, we cannot find God unless we are constantly looking for Him. However, I have seen eager, well-meaning people harm themselves as a result of their being overzealous. I have also seen people yearning for spiritual growth go nowhere because of a lack of determination and action.
Inappropriate Singing
Wanting close contact with Sai sometimes leads us to behavior that is not balanced or sensible. Swami encourages intensity in our spiritual effort, but not without regard for our conscience, discrimination, and common sense. The following story is an example of engaging in spiritual practice with ample intensity but without common sense.
Soon aer meeting Swami, I put a meditation room in my psychiatric office. This room was separated from the waiting room by a paper-thin wall. In it I placed pictures of Swami and a lile altar with a candle. One day just before I was to see a patient, a devotee came and suggested that we sing devotional
