directly toward the camera, slowly and poetically, like a so breeze in the early morning sun. Witnessing the scene unfold, we could hardly contain our enthusiasm.
About five feet from the camera Swami turned to a devotee and slowly moved his hand in the air, again materializing sacred vibhuti. To his devotees, this holds great spiritual potency and healing power. For the scientist, it is a sign that maer is created by God’s will. Without self-consciousness, naturally and unpretentiously, Swami paused a moment, allowing the filming to absorb his extraordinary presence. No director could coach an actor more correctly or draw forth such exquisite and exhilarating energy as Swami exhibited. This vision was like the brilliant radiations of a million suns held within suspended time. Two or three more times Swami materialized vibhuti close to the camera and then walked toward his devotees gathered on the outer grounds with perfect camera placement holding on him continuously throughout.
He Attracts All Eyes
On Thursdays, devotees sing all day at the ashram, waiting long periods to see Swami. On one Thursday when we were filming, Swami came out, went up to the cameraman, Deodaat (Visser), and motioned for Deodaat and Christine (van Roon), the female sound technician, to join him. This instance was the first time I had ever seen Swami allow a cameraman and a woman to closely follow him during darshan. With Christine
