An Uplifting Summer School
Talks, concerts, spiritual disciplines, special moments with Swami, and being in the company of good people were inspiring treats. Swami filled the summer school with guest lecturers, playful games, and wonderful intimate talks to his students. There was even a spiritual quiz game in which competing teams had a grand time and all won.
Stories were recounted daily throughout the summer school, many of them moving us to tears. There was a story told about Swami and a young girl. Swami was leaving the
area aer a discourse when approached by a small girl who presented him with a modest gift. This gesture pleased Swami, and he asked her what she wanted. She was about eight years old and surprised everyone by requesting to merge in Swami’s feet.
Everyone was shocked. They wondered if she knew what she was asking. Swami asked if she would like earrings or a sari. She repeated, “No, Swami, I want to merge in your feet.” Swami changed the topic, talked to others, and then later came back to her. Would she like him to come to her house? He gave other suggestions as well. She remained adamant about merging into his feet. Swami then dropped the subject.
