stage and the sound connected into the main audio controls. Running around and negotiating with various coordinators and technicians made me feel useful. I was happy to play a lile role, and grateful, as I knew that it was only by Swami’s grace that I was allowed to play any role at all.
Swami and his entourage entered the stadium. What an electrifying moment; half a million people were receiving the Avatar. Philip and the crew took remarkable pictures and during the event went to a high vantage point to get an expansive view of the massive crowd.
Filming in Holland
Following the colorful and varied events at the ashram, we returned home to assess the film and contemplate the next steps. Within a few months, I traveled to Holland to see the progress. I arrived at a time when Philip was shooting a scene for the film. Two dancers, representing Krishna and Arjuna, danced to the moving words of the Bhagavad Gita. The scene took place on a large expanse of sandy shoreline, which represented the baleground where Krishna had taught Arjuna. Philip deeply appreciated the Bhagavad Gita and was showing the similarity between the teachings of Krishna and the life and teachings of Sai Baba.
Philip had two large speakers projecting passages from the Bhagavad Gita over this enormous stage so that the dancers could hear the words. These words speak to the center of man’s existence, and to hear them in this seing brought me to tears. It was as if God himself was uering pure sweet truth from heaven.
Not wounded by weapons, Not burned by fire,
Not dried by the wind, Not weed by water,
Such is the Atman.
