The film was to be ready for a national showing in Holland in April 1993. In May, we were to show the film to Swami at his summer school.
The Grand Showing
Aer finishing the film, off we went to India to Swami’s ashram, Brindavan. This part of the drama proved to be frustrating. It needed all of my ability to detach from desiring the fruits of the labor. It was such a rough lesson.
Swami gave us the impression that he would view the film in the presence of his students during one of the evening sessions of the summer school. We busied ourselves finding a video projector large enough for the stage screen. Geing the equipment in place was quite a struggle. Then, on the evening of the viewing, the projectionist was an hour late, leaving us only 30 minutes to prepare the 400-seat auditorium for the showing. I tried to maintain equanimity, peace, and patience, but I could see myself slipping rapidly. We were all frantic, rushing about in circles trying to get sound, picture, and placement just right.
Aer all our preparations, we heard that Swami was not coming to the showing, only students would be present. Then 10 minutes before the showing, our sweaty and nerve- racked crew heard that Swami would be coming. We didn’t know what to believe, but I knew that the master teacher of detachment was at work. It was hard for me to detach from a
