 2 Awakenings
I am the cause of all causes. I am eternal. I am sat-chit-ananda (I am existence, knowledge, bliss). I am Hari (Krishna) and Hara (Shiva) too; for I transform Myself into these manifestations as occasion arises. Creation, the universe, is but the projection of My will; it has no basic reality. My son, I declare this truth to you as a result of My deep love toward you. Others will not be able to grasp the mystery of this creation. What I have just revealed to you is known as concise Bhagavatha.
Sathya Sai Baba (Bhagavatha Vahini, chap. 32)
Modern man has been in a deep sleep. Too many have lost sight of God and have forgoen the path of love. The values that bring humanity to society have been overridden by selfishness and the search for sensual pleasures. A preoccupation with power, money, greed, and violence has resulted in terrible mindless suffering.
We are witness to frightening violence in the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Northern Ireland, and now in the USA, as well as in families, religions, and societies all over the world. As a psychiatrist, I see the anguish in the lives of my patients.
