I am troubled by the depth of pain and suffering running rampant in the minds of men and women throughout our global community.
About twenty-five years ago, when our innocent daughters played freely with the neighborhood children, lile did we know of the hidden abuse going on within one family. When pet rabbits were slaughtered in the backyard of neighborhood friends, we thought perhaps a fox from the canyon had done the damage. Only years later did I learn the truth, when by some coincidence I was asked to evaluate a young woman who turned out to be one of these young girls. I was horrified to hear of the verbal, physical, and sexual abuse that she and her sister were exposed to at the hands of their deranged stepfather. All looked quiet outside, but behind closed doors young children were being beaten and tortured, and their dear pets slaughtered. The open wounds in their minds were still fresh even years later.
Good people cry out, seemingly in vain, for protection and safety. We have lost sight of the sun and are in darkness. In the Hindu tradition, this dark age of unrest is called the “Midnight of Man.”
In the history of mankind, there have been those glorious moments when God has responded to the prayers of the good and has granted peace and safety to the forlorn. An Avatar appears who protects and saves, as voiced by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita 5,000 years ago. “Whenever disharmony overwhelms the world, the Lord will incarnate in human form to establish the modes of earning peace and to re-educate the human community in the paths of peace.” It has happened again.
What a glorious time! Out of our current sorry state, we are once again seeing this precious promise fulfilled. An Avatar has come to awaken world consciousness to the reality of the spiritual dimension and to inspire us to love one another. Swami is catching the eye of the world and turning it to holy teachings and the path to peace.
