The
Suite Life
Ralph Waldo Emerson’s oft-repeated quote says,
“Life is a journey, not a destination.” Whether
traveling by plane, ship, or train, these first-
class suites provide a journey so luxurious, the
destination almost doesn’t matter.

Roundtrip fare from New York (JFK) to Abu Dhabi:
$31,000 (one passenger); $41,000 (two passengers)
ffering three separate, private rooms (an unmatched amenity),
OAbu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways’ top suite is dubbed “The
Residence.” Fittingly so, as it offers travelers on board the A380
a living room with a leather double-seat sofa and a 32-inch LCD
monitor, a bedroom with a double bed finished in Italian linens, and
an en suite shower room with a full-height shower.
“The Residence offers the same levels of luxury, technology,
and superlative service only found on larger private jets,” explains
Etihad Airways’ spokesperson Katie Connell. “From a chauffeur-
driven limousine service to a lifestyle concierge team and private
check-in at the airport, every part of the travel experience is seam-
less and discreet.”
In addition to its total privacy, The Residence is accompa-
nied by exceptional hospitality and service options ranging from
a “flying nanny” who assists families with in-flight childcare to a
Savoy-trained Butler and a private chef who prepares completely
customized meals.
“With the design of The Residence, we sought to bring the
individuality and exclusivity of a luxury boutique hotel experience PHOTO COURTESY OF ETIHAD AIRWAYS
to the sky in a way that embraced Arabian Modernism, an aesthetic
that combines the traditions of the region with contemporary
design,” says Connell.
Etihad currently operates one A380 daily flight between New
York and Abu Dhabi, and will launch a second service between the Etihad Airways
two markets in June 2017.
