Message from the Chairperson

On behalf of the Callan United Football family, I would like to thank you
for taking the time to browse our inaugural yearbook and thanks to those
      who have contributed.

In this, our 50th year in existence, we are excited about the future and
work continues in the background at a pace. Grant applications have
been submitted and with a bit of luck we can start working on a larger
scale to make the pitches suitable for future generations.

The life of a volunteer is a bit of a rollercoaster. Many hours go into
making any club or society a success and it cannot be successful without
the contribution of many. 50 years after the first football was kicked, I can
emphatically say that Callan United IS A SUCCESS.

Compiling and researching the content of this publication has been
hugely enjoyable and revealing. Sometimes we allow ourselves to forget
that that others contribute to the bigger picture. There is a wonderful
proud back story to Callan United, some fantastic characters and indeed
for those who were there, fantastic memories. We are united by them.
They make us a family. The current and future generations will no doubt
create their own history and their own happy memories. A trip up to see
underage football in Callan will show that the abundance in talent is
      heartwarming and exciting.

As with any family, we as a club have some disappointments in our
archives. We acknowledge them and wont forget about them but certainly
wont dwell on them. The future is too important.

We have also been touched by tragedy and loss. Of course its part of life
but doesn't make it easier that our loved ones were taken to young.
Those members in their own rights have left an indelible print in our
hearts and we proudly remember them often.
