Promoting and managing the tournament program at The Country Club of York will be
extremely important to not only myself but also my staff. There is no better way to show the
membership how important they are than to run a first class tournament program. In my fourth
year of running all men’s events and outings at The Ridgewood Country Club, it is important to
me that we see growth from year to year in participation. The women’s tournament programs,
including the weekly 18-hole and 9-hole women, began to see a steady increase with new creative
ideas and fun formats.
As your Golf Professional, you can expect me to:
• Develop and oversee a first class tournament program that will make each event special
and memorable for all members and guests.
• Meet with the Golf Chairman and key decision makers well in advance to arrange all the
details for each particular event and then continue to communicate with them right up
until the time of the event.
• Promote all events with consistency and accuracy. Utilize the internet, website, phone,
and newsletters to maintain a constant connection to the membership and the golf
calendar.
• Use my established relationships with gift and awards vendors to provide the tournament
committees with creative selections of prizes and favors.
• Be proactive in communicating upcoming events with the General Manager,
Superintendent, and Executive chef to keep them well informed of quantity of
participants, timing, etc.
• Utilize appropriate staff uniforms during all major events, especially member-guest
events. This will provide a professional and organized atmosphere.
• Post event results in a timely manor, issue credits to the proper participants, and establish
a review sheet for each event. This will provide a history for the program that can bee
referred to for changes and improvements.
• As a result, make the members and guests want to return to The Country Club of York.
