‘Just a friendly kick about with the lads’, he explained with a face the color of a tomato.
‘Hang on I have to go have a shower’, he said putting his arms around me as he passed whispering I love you.
‘I’m here to work’, I reminded him as Jenny came through the door.
I was kept busy all week working on some new pieces for the gallery in case the others sold as quickly as the last ones but also preparing an in-depth program for the students over the next few weeks, slower more simple pieces for the beginners to work on and more complex subjects for the advanced class. For the beginners I slipped in a water carrier. For my matured class on their second landscape I choose a day in the market, that should get their juices flowing.
By Thursday I was ready to hibernate when I got a call from Penny asking me to fill in on Saturday as Seki and Paul would be coming home as a married couple. She wanted to do a bit more work to the attic to make it homelier for them she was on tenterhooks.
‘Of course, you can depend on me’, I replied.
We chatted for a while, well she chatted, and I listened. She finished by stating things would be different from now on.
Rex came over that evening for a couple of hours we had got a Chinese takeaway, a bottle of Shiraz and cuddled in front of the fire. I remember why I love him I feel so happy and content, but I sent him home a little later I needed to get a good night sleep since I’d be covering for Penny tomorrow as her, Paul and Seki have a lunch date. Like Cinderella Rex left by midnight, by taxi, leaving his hot kisses behind.
