Saturday, I woke early refreshed and finished a few bits I needed to do around the house before heading to the bar in plenty of time to cover for Penny.
‘Hi Penny! A penny for them?’ I startled her she seemed to be in a world of her own. ‘I tell you they are worth more than a penny’ she muttered, come sit and have a coffee with me first she directed me to an empty table. She started by telling me she went to collect Seki and Paul from the Airport early this morning.
‘I knew by the look on Paul face he was not pleased’.
‘Trouble in paradise’, I quizzed.
‘It turns out Seki wanted to travel on and not settle for life in the country’.
‘She changed her tune suddenly’, I said a little cheekily.
‘There has been a shouting match since we got back’, she was visibly upset, ‘I don’t think this has been as he imagined it’.
‘Try and step away’, I advised, ‘It may be Seki is frightened of the future and what she has got Paul into’.
‘You may be right, I’ll have to give them a little space, it won’t be easy with us all living together’.
She stopped talking as Paul entered the room.
‘Paul! Welcome back’, I stepped forward and gave him a hug Seki followed smiling ready to go out for the day.
Penny left with a worried frown. I went out to the bar to relieve Rex the bar was beginning to fill up now with the lunch crowd. I was not looking forward to Jenny coming in. I hoped she wouldn’t try to wind me up. I still don’t know if she is alright with Rex and me.
As 8 o clock approached and time for Jenny to start her shift I felt anxious.
