‘Oh! Rex I’m sorry’, I lied. ‘Amber can we have a chat later’, Rex requested, ‘maybe when Penny returns from the station’, I promised.
I saw Jenny give Rex an angry look, but she remained cheerful for the rest of the evening.
I have never seen Penny so happy, having Paul home, and a beautiful girl in tow. A real-life Indian Princess he met in Bahrain. Seki was the exotic beauty one would expect. Long coal black hair to her waist – coffee color skin – black almond eyes – and curves all in the right places. She didn’t look more than twenty. I could picture her with a tiara ruling the kingdom. Already the boys were under her spell. For Rex all it took was the introduction. Jenny was shown an interest in Paul --- for he was looking quite exotic with a glowing golden tan and his blond hair almost white against his skin. He was a different Paul to the pale skin Paul that went away a couple of months ago. Maybe this will be all it takes to distract Jenny and set Rex free. As I was about to drive home Rex came running out calling to me.
‘Amber! Wait we need to talk’.
‘Rex I’m tired can’t it wait until another day’? I pleaded.
‘Please Amber just a few minutes’.
‘Okay get in’, I said weary.
‘I need to say this now that Paul is back. I know you are giving up the bar and I won’t see you as often as I want’.
‘Rex hold on I will keep in touch and come over a few times to visit. Anyway, I was going to ask if you want to arrange to go to London the same time as I’m driving to Ireland. I could give you a lift and met you on the way back’?
‘Oh, Amber that would be great, but I need to tell you this first’, Rex took Amber by the shoulders and looked into her green eyes. I sensed the urgency.
