‘Will you be ok while I’m away’? Penny asked Paul.
‘Sure‘, Paul replied, ‘Jenny will do extra hours --- but Seki will have to help you most days‘, Penny was concerned.
‘I’ll cope the B&B will be quiet’, Paul was confident, ‘Paddy will help with changing the barrels it makes him feel important’.
As Penny was about to leave she checked her room for any forgotten luggage, she heard Paul having a conversation with the attic door.
‘Come on love --- open up --- let’s talk about this’, Paul pleaded.
Penny couldn’t hear the reply, but it was not good, as Paul called ‘your acting like a spoiled child’. Paul gave up and went down to the bar.
Penny slipped out to Amber and Rex fussing, ‘about time we’re behind schedule’. ‘Everything alright Penny’, I asked. She gave me a nod and I saw a tear fill her eye. ‘Later’, was her reply.
My thoughts turned to Sherry and what I could get her for a wedding present. After all she is marrying a very wealthy man with his own house, flash car and own business. I have painted her a picture of my cottage. I will tell her it is my dream cottage and that someday I hope to live in it. I’m still not ready to divulge my address I will have to fill Penny in and ask her to be a little secretive about what she knows about me.
A few miles in I glanced at Penny and she appeared to be sleeping. Rex on the other hand was stretched out on the rear seat snoring.
I will tell Penny about Rex but ask her to keep it to herself for a while, just until this business about his father is sorted and to give us time to get to know each other. I feel I’m ready for a serious relationship, I just worry he is so young and maybe he will take off as soon as his father appears. After all he will be a wealthy man then and can have any women he wants. I want to get to know him for that is one mistake I do not
