‘Good luck’, I eased myself from his embrace, ‘I hope you get good news from Mr. Stapleton’, I didn’t want him to see how much I longed to stay.
As I reached the car Penny was already waiting with half a dozen bags in tow. ‘MY! You have been busy’, I exclaimed pointing to her shopping bags.
‘Oh! I could have shopped all evening, it’s so long since I have been let loose to spend so freely’, she giggled.
Amazing what a little retail therapy can do.
‘Well show me what you bought then’, it was great to have Penny here for the trip. Penny showed me her purchases she had bought a beautiful quilt for Sherry, a pair of gold earrings in the shape of stars and matching necklace and a rather expensive leather jacket.
‘They’re beautiful Penny, I may borrow them one day’, I said joking.
‘No need they’re for you, I saw them and thought how lovely they’d be with that dress you showed me, the one you bought for the wedding, as a thank you gift’. ‘Oh, Penny you shouldn’t have, having you here is enough’, I gave her the biggest hug.
‘Come on let’s get to the other side of London, we can find a little guest house and book in for the night’, I said excited I was looking forward to a proper girly chat and to confess all my secrets.
After a lovely meal in a little Mexican restaurant a few doors from the B&B we booked into for the night we went to an Irish bar which was very quiet, much to our delight as we wanted to have a chat. Two cocktails and a couple of Baileys later I was ready to tell all.
