Lowwaxx & Trujillo – Alquimia EP [Lowwaxx] [House]
Big slab of minimal here, with first track “Ovillo Delona” being all about the beats and the bass. With minimal use of effects, they manage to create a track full of character and also an element of fun to it. A funky lead line keeps things rollin along, with sparse drums and it is carried on with “Pinball” where a small amount of delay is used to give depth to the track.
“Supterfugio” strips things back to basically drums and bass with a smattering of percussion, but stil retaining energy to keep things going. Finally “Pulse counter” is all about the crunchy drums and filtered samples. Nice EP and look forward to see where these artists go together.

Marco Effe – Basewax [AdMaiora Music] [Techno]
Techno and tech house. Thats all you really need to know about this release. Each track is basically a 101 in the genres. Title track “Basewax” is a rolling stomping relentless lesson in how to do techno well. No melodics, no hands in the air moments, just a solid groove and no messing around. “Rawhere” is on the same vibe, with the ride cymbals and stabs and reversed synths giving the track a trippy vibe to it. Rolling hi hats keep things rolling along nicely and even in the break down things don't really let up for a second. Finally 2000 and One steps in for remix duties and delivers a solid techno remix that takes thing in a more upbeat direction.

M.Kruse / Pig & Dan – Get on me/So good
[Terminal M] [House & Techno]
None of these artists really need any introduction and this is a great example of them all at the top of their game. Created within a couple of days in Mallorca, they showcase each others sounds perfectly. “Get on me” is a full on techno assault on the senses. Driving and pumping away with a pulsing main riff and then complemented by a great array of melodics which raise things above the bar of most techno tracks out there, it has a real sense of feeling to it.
“So good” is a much more progressive affair, with floating arpeggios alongside uplifting vocal samples that hang in the background and are brought to the front perfectly with great use of reverb, before the main groove takes everything back down to what is most important in techno, the groove.

NTFO – Mirror EP [Objektivity Records] [House]
3 tracks of wocked deep tech goodness here from NTFO, each track with a great sense of identity. “Mirror” starts things off with an edgy bassline and classic tech house drums. All about the groove with this one. The tom on the persussion side of it give it movement and energy. “Focusee” has a sense of tension and the main arpeggio line has a great 80s vibe to it with hi hats and after the break when the main line hits it is a great roller. Finally “The heat”, which is a vinyl only exclusive is a dream, floaty deep house track with a great techy edge to it.
Really nice stuff from NTFO and Objektivity.
