As you travel South on the 55 Freeway in Orange County, California, at the very end you have reached your destination. In The Triangle, in the city of Costa Mesa, you can find a theatre, a bowling alley, gym, and an array of top eateries, but on the second floor you’ll find the EDM club called, ‘Sutra”. This place is the happening place to be and parking is free! That’s a rarity here in this state. I arrive before the nightlife begins, so I decided to dine on Mexican cuisine at the La Vida Catina. This open air restaurant transcends you back to the beach like the beautiful shores of Acapulco. I nibbled on authentic delights such as enchiladas and ceviche. I also sipped on a cactus fruit margarita. This cocktail contains Karma Silver Tequila, cactus fruit, agave nectar and lime! So delish! Places like these in coastal communities are heavily influenced by
Mexican and beach culture. Orange County’s pace is a little slower that the lights and action of LA and Hollywood, but brings you into the beauty of what California culture is all about.
Now I make my way to Sutra Night Club next door. Sutra is the best EDM venue of Southern California. Unlike the urban and edgy city of Los Angeles, this club has the look and feel of luxury and ambiance. Palm trees, sunny California weather and just minutes from the beach, you instantly feel the love and light of what California has to offer. Just like the movies and TV, Orange County is a spectacular backdrop to the EDM scene. Everything you’ve seen and heard is true! Very similar to themed Insomniac Events who host EDC and Beyond Wonderland events, The Identity Management Group, brings a surreal feel and vibe to this nightclub. The Identity Management Group really provides you with a 360 experience from décor, music, gogo dancers, lighting and aura. At times you can find Identity Management Group and Insomniac Events working side by side on many top Electronic Dance Music venues and events. They bring themes to the party and music atmosphere making you step out of reality and down the rabbit hole into a dreamy EDM world! Just like Disney that is located on the same street up North, people are in character promoting a good time on the happiest place on Earth! Sutra does host all the big name world class DJs who come to California. Some of the more notable names include Paul Van Dyke, Danny Avila, Dannic, Borgeous, Laidback Luke, Audien, ATB, Tritonal, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Benny Benassi and the list goes on... Resident DJs based out of the OC are Brklyn, Loczi, Steven Wright, Treo and others. The Identity Management Group does support its local talent. All of them are climbing rapidly up the ranks as performers.
Being in the network of DJs, I find myself kicking it with DJ Dark Intensity and DJ Organized Crime. They are the winners of promoter, Jimmy Phu’s, “DJ DUO Competition” held in January of this year. They are opening up for Max Vangeli from Size Records tonight. This paring complements world renowned producer/remixer Dark Intensity and DJ Organized crime, a loved local DJ and aspiring producer. The two make a great team showcasing each of their skills and talents which combines into fun filled party atmosphere. It’s always a good time with DJ DI and DJ DO! They bring an uplifted vibe and party mode as demonstrated by fans who arrive on party buses to support these two! Tonight there’s another DJ Competition hosted by Jimmy Phu. Upcoming DJs compete to be opening acts, a cash prize and
hopeful resident DJs. It’s really cool that the music network here promotes and supports local talent. A lot of big time DJs get their break here and find themselves traveling worldwide from all the experience and exposure.
The show was amazing. The lights, the 3 dimensional cube, confetti, glow sticks, gorgeous gogos, good bass pumping music and the whole ambiance makes you feel like you are living the dream! Max Vangeli, DJ Dark Intensity, DJ Organized and others gave a stellar performance. The crowd is pumping and everyone is dancing. There’s never an empty dancefloor at this venue. EDM is loved and adorned here and the reception of international and local DJs is just amazing! Bottle service here is reasonably priced compared to LA venues who can’t top the world class service you get here. By far Sutra has the most beautiful and gracious cocktail waitresses, hosts and gogos as well as excellent service and decorum than anywhere else. This is the place of all places to be. There is a guest list that you can find on their website and if you arrive early enough you may just get in. Otherwise the line out the door as everyone wants a piece of this Electro Paradise.
So if you find yourself in the OC, make sure you stop by The Triangle located at the end of the 55 Costa Mesa Freeway at 1870 Harbor Blvd or just head South on Harbor Blvd from Disneyland! Sutra, is not only down the street from the happiest place on Earth, it’s the best place for Electronic Dance Music on Earth!
