John Parker of Promo Only. Promo only is the US’s largest provider of promotional content. They give direct access to DJ's, radio stations and entertainment venues to the top & hot releases in the industry. They are the who’s who of what is being released at the moment. As we arrive to the VIP party on the rooftop, young phenome Cole Plante is on the ones and twos. You are literally shoulder to shoulder with top performers, producers, DJ's, and music industry icons. As hard it is to leave, we convince The Tazmania Records and Beatzone Records crew to come with us, and we are off to the Ultra Music exclusive VIP party at The Delano. Although we arrive later to this 5 star hotel and it’s not that crowded. Free drink tickets, an exclusive and intimate show by Chris Lake while drinking and partying with Yolanda Be Cool crew. I’d say this is awesome! It’s now mid-morning and technically Friday, we head back to get a little sleep before we are up and running again.
Friday, March 27, 2015: In barely of a wink of the eye, we are up from our slumber. We catch the tail end of the Radio Panel at The WMC where moderator Cary Vance of Promo Only is joined by panelist: Cato K of WPOW, Brian Fink from Evolution.iHeartRadio, Hosh Gureli of Primary Wave, John Parker from Promo Only, and DJ Ron Slomowicz from Club Planet/Fusion/NotableDance. As we tune into the radio knowledge, we tune out as the panel ends to get to the Reload Pool Party at The Shore Club. An21, EC Twins, Giovannetti, Julian Ingrosso, Plastik Funk, Sick Individuals, Starkillers and Vicetone rock the booth and the pool. We mingle, chat and groove to the music and it’s already time to get across the street and so we can get ready for the next gig.
We arrive at The Chelsea Hotel on Washington Ave. Addictedtoradio.com presents The South Beach Tour IV with Tazmania Records. The DJ's playing tonight’s line up are Carlos Mojica, Dark Intensity, DJ Dramos, DJ Organized Crime, Lee Dager of Bimbo Jones, Mike Ferullo, Peter K and The Scene Kings. Special performances and appearances by Aki Starr, Brianna, Issa, Jade, Liz Primo, Pris and Ricky J. It’s a killer party in this hotel lobby and lounge. The drinks are flowing and people are dancing. The lineup of DJ's and the performers rock it till the early am. At this point after skipping dinner by accident, we are in search of food. We find a 24 hour diner on the corner. After that evening, I need to eat eggs for my liver’s sake. I had a delicious Rancheros Huevos. Our crew is joined by Lee Dagger of Bimbo Jones, ArtRooney DJ for Y100
Florida & co-owner of Premier Events DJ Entertainment, John D’Angelo DJ/Mixshow presenter and publisher of Club Chaos. After refueling, we head back to rest up for the weekend!
Saturday, March 28, 2015: All I know after waking up is that I need coffee! Cubano coffee please! We are up and ready to go to The No Sugar Added event at Nikki Beach. We catch an Uber South on Collins and arrive. We are on the list and slide in. However the general line wraps around the building and the entrance fee is steep. The lineup includes Sam Feldt, Carl Tricks, Le Youth, Pierce Fulton, Bassjackers, Henry Fong, MAKJ, Surprise Guests: Dada Life and Skrillex, Bingo Players and Chuckie! Yeah, this line is up is pretty badass and this place is pumping!!! A pitcher of mojito for all of us as we bask in the warm Miami sun and in the ambiance of this amazing show! Oh oh it’s time to head back to get ready for the next gig. Our buddies stay for the whole entire show, but the next gig is calling.
We catch a cab into downtown Miami. It took forever, but we are here at the Intercontinental hotel next door to the Ultra Music Festival. The bass is pounding, the lights are glowing and the fireworks are bursting in air. The Toro Toro lounge is the stage set for another Tazmania Records event. The official UMF after party is here. Tonight we see Animal, 2 Elements, Carlos Mojica, Dark Intensity, David Jones, Gary Caos, Hiio, Lee Dagger, Outcode, Plastic Funk, Stonebridge, The Scene Kings, and Tavo. The pinnacle of the night is when the crowd goes crazy for Dark intensity. We end up staying there a bit as there’s no room to leave. Late for our next event, we were lucky to find a cab to take us to Mana Wynwood to The Dada Compound. Our friends have already arrived. Performers include Andybody, Bixel Boys, Morgan Page, Dada Life, Tritonal, Henry Fong and Loudpvck. This huge warehouse is filled with thousands of ravers. Bananas are everywhere. Miami is crazy! As we rave into the sunlight we catch a ride back to our hotel. Can you believe that the whole week the lobby has top notch DJ's playing music non-stop. Including our friends from Chicago and Strictly Dance Radio. They are still here! Good night or more like good morning.
Sunday, March 29th, 2015: When I wake up I find that I’m still alive. At this point we are so tired, but keep moving. Yet another gig to attend. At least this one is during the day. We head south on Collins
Ave to The Beatgasm Hotel at Clevelander. We attend the Beatgasm Launch Party on the exclusive C-Level Rooftop. There’s a cool breeze as we have a panoramic view of all of South Beach. It is breathtaking! More of a chill lounge/deep house feel as beautiful go-go dancers entertain us with their charm and grace. On stage we have Alai & Gallo, Ben DJ, Bimbo Jones, Carlos Mojica, Dark Intensity, Disco Fries,Gary Caos, Matt Auston, Marco Santoro, Rio Dela Duna, Ron Carrol, Simons, Tavo, The Scene Kings, Vicente Ferrer, Victor Perez and a special performance by Liz Primo. It’s so chill, sexy, and cool at this exclusive event. It’s nice to be able to chill and lounge on a Sunday afternoon. As I sip on my luscious tropical drink I’m sad as the night comes. As we exit onto Collins Ave there’s a Lamborgini, Ferrari and some other sports car I can’t recall lined in a row. As we walked past the beautiful Italian inspired gates of Gianni Versace, we find ourselves at our last supper of Miami.
We dine on the sidewalk under umbrellas at The Sugar Restaurant. As we nibble on hors d’oeuvres we recollect our Miami experiences with one another. But as night falls we head back yet to another gig. The Scene Kings and Dark Intensity play next door from the Catalina. As I’m barely awake. Our other friends have been at the Ultra Musical Festival all day. God only knows what time it is and we need to leave early in the morning to Miami International Airport.
Monday, April 30th 2015: I’m in disbelief that I’m packed and ready to head home. Our friends returned in the morning from UMF with candy stories, craziness and complete music bliss. When you are surrounded by the music and the people you love, it’s like being in an EDM Nirvana. It’s such a life changing experience to live, eat, breath and be music. Miami is definitely a magical music heaven.
I strongly suggest for every DJ or music fanatic to at least experience the Winter Music Conference, Music Miami Week and the Ultra Music Fest once or better yet many times in your life. As the same as how people pilgrimage to the holy land in the sake of faith and religion, DJ's should flock to Miami in the name of music because music is our religion, faith and savior. Amen.
