sub:Merged - WMC Sampler 2015 (sub:Merged)
ZONE TOP RELEASE RATING - 10/10
Another must have sub:Merged collection for all Techno heads! The album features 10 massive original tracks from some talented artists including: Roel Salemink, Steve Mulder, Bageera, Blanda, Sons Of Robots, Joe Mesmar, Mr. Dello, Diego Mongelos, Bas Albers, Alen Milivojevic and the Reactivitz. I could spend all day writing about this release, but I will keep it short. “Bas Albers” track “Old Dagger” really does it for me this track is a full on stomper of a techno track. I expect to be playing this a lot over the coming weeks. That in my opinion has to be the stand out track from this sampler! However, everyone has varied sounds that really do it for them so the only way to pick a favourite from this release sampler, is to head over to “Beatport” and listen to all the various artists and buy your own
favourites. I mean to be honest there is no shortage of talent in this sampler. Couple of stand-out artists are “Alen Milivojevic” and “Joe Mesmar” who are really making waves in the techno industry at the moment with multiple monster releases under their belt. Another artist that is making good music at the moment is “Bageera” but then same could be said about all of the artists on this release. Not to mention “Steve Mulder” - I can't stress enough how well sub:Merged are doing at the moment as a record label and brand. Watch this space!

Subjects - Future Hero [Loose Records]
ZONE RECOMENDED TUNE RATING - 9/10
This is great release from Italian record label “Loose Records” ran by Rino Cerrone e Mario Manganelli. This EP features 2 tracks with 2 remixes. The first track of course would be “Future Hero” - the original track has some nice groove going with it and of course is worthy. The only issue with it unfortunately is that the remix is a lot better with “Skober” on the remix duties. The Skober remix is a well produced monster with good use of atmosphere and percussion, not to mention the whale sounds playing through the track. The second
track on this EP is rightly names “Cosmic” this has a great cosmic spacey feel to it. The thing that strikes me with the original is that it could possible be in that show “American Horror Story” or at least could feature in some ghost story. However, once again the remix is better! This time the remix duties are by “Anthony Hypster” and this in my opinion is the best track on the EP, the wooden drums and darkened bass on this track are used to epic status.
1. Subjects - Cosmic 2. Subjects - Cosmic (Anthony Hypster Remix) 3. Subjects - Future Hero 4. SUbjects - Future Hero (Skober Remix)

Axel Karakasis - Strange Ways EP (Remain Records)
RATING - 8/10
Axel Karakasis has been one of my favourite producers over the last two years now, and never fails to deliver top quality music. He is by far the biggest techno export from Greece, possibly the greek god of techno! Of course he is not only an international DJ but owner of his own record label “Remain Records”. His latest release on “Remain Records” is “Strange Ways EP”. This two track EP features “Strange Ways” and
“Gripped”. For me the “Strange Ways” track is superb. It flies along with purpose with a funky feel to it. The use of percussion and movement in this track puts it a must buy for most techno DJ’s in my opinion. To be honest though “Gripped” is also a monster track, making this EP a good all round purchase. I can see myself dropping these tracks throughout my bookings in April and May.

Just Kiddin’ – Thinking About It (Stripclub Remix) [Promo/Free Download] RATING: 7/10
Future House producers, Jordan Casement & Kurt Wilson created ‘Stripclub’. Both Belfast born and both get thumbs up from me on my weekly radio show and in Zone reviews with their tracks only getting better. The duo has put a real melodic spin to their remix with some lovely pads shining through. At the main drop you can hear an element of “oldskool” peeking through, similar to the sound of the infamous 90’s throwback ‘Gypsy Woman’ track. Loving it! Check out their Soundcloud for free downloads.

Cutser – Air Raid [Peak Hour Music] ZONE RECOMMENDED TUNE 8/10
Cutser can be regularly seen dropping bombs in Belfast hotspots such as ‘Electric Playground’ at Thompsons Garage and is being renowned for the nickname ‘Rave Cave’, says it all! The word ‘Bomb’ isn’t being used lightly here as Cutser returns to Peak Hour Music with a fresh new big room banger loaded with energy to set the party off! From start to finish it’s a high adrenaline fuelled track that I recommend as a must have to cause damage to most venues and keep those fists pumpin’ high!
