KouncilHouse – Crazy about you [Dirty Lemon]
UK based multi genre specialist KouncilHouse is back again after a short hiatus, and with his next album in the pipeline he drops this sun drenched package on us, to keep us going till then. Some serious Moby vibes with this one. A down-tempo, dub style instrumental is complemented by some understated string samples and a simple yet heartfelt vocal. Its simple, but stunning in the fact it can stir the soul like many others try. Not much more to be said really, perfect for reclining as the sunset with your favourite poison. The remixes on offer here are something quite special. First up Dread Pirate brings the UK Garage style he is renowned for here. Drums skip along nicely and the sub bass hums on the low end as it should. The AKAS remix is a solid piece of drum and bass weaponry, destined for good things. Finally we have the Chad Jackson remix, who weaves the strings and vocals from the original into a mid tempo acid house track, full of understated touches and elements that you pick up on multiple listens. All in all another outstanding package from KouncilHouse, cant wait for the new album.

Native from Paris – New Way [Rocstar]
After a brief hiatus, Lee la Roc relaunches his Rocstar imprint, and moves away from the previous breaks and ghetto funk sound and with this new release focuses on a more four to the floor direction. French producer Thibaut Maurin , under his Native from Paris guise, comes to Rocstar with a slice of feel good summer house music. The main riff is both subdued to fit a warm up set, whilst having enough funk to fit into any peak time house set. Combined with the vocal snippets and the solid bassline it is a surefire hit. Cut la Roc steps up to sprinkle some of his magic on his edit and subtly opens up the sound whilst toughening up the drums and giving them more punch. A lovely piece of music to take you away to a happier place.

Luke Davidson – S.I.T.H [SOKO]
Luke Davidson, aswell as being A&R for Glasgow Undergound, has managed to notch up an impressive batch of releases already, since starting producing in 2013. Garnering support from highflyers, such as Christoph, Low Steppa, Flashmob and Anime Edge & Dance. Now he brings his distinct groove to London based SOKO Records. S.I.T.H doesn’t mess around. This is a track that needs to be played in a club, loud. The kick punches through like a train, and the lead is a simple riff that gets the point across. Combine that with a bassline that will dislodge your internal organs, and an acid line that harks back to “in the day” .This will without doubt do the damage on any dancefloor it’s played on. Keep them coming.

Langbard – Remnants (part 1) [6913 Digital]
Langbard returns to 6931 for his latest EP. Stating that this is the first in a series of Eps, it’s easy to see why it’s received early support from Solomun, Tale of us and Nic Faciulli to name a few. It’s a great example of his take on melodic techno. Gently easing you in with the opener “Kroma” , with its undulating arpeggio bass line and synths washing in and out giving atmosphere. Stripped back after the breakdown, whilst never loosing its groove, it’s a great opener. Next “Buurn” starts with its frantic bass and synth stabs, whilst a delicate lead line sits of the top. The drums a simple but effective, and keep things moving along nicely. “Precipice” keeps things dark, with dark pads being complimented with less sparse percussion adding as another almost melodic element, before the acid bassline gets things moving. Finally “Remnants” returns to the Eps main sound of melodic synths and arpeggios, with a rolling bassline. A great EP, full of nice production and melodic element, that give each track enough character to stand on their own, but also work really well as an EP. Cannot wait for the next one. https://www.beatport.com/release/remnants-part-one/2917606

Mark Zowie – September (At The After Party) [Krafted Digital]
Krafted Digital's consistently high output continues with Carlisle based multi genre maestro Mark Zowie. Taking time out from the electro/techno/pop of his Novablood outfit to fire out a solo single. As one of his many aliases , his Mark Zowie material is focused on the dancefloor, and this is no different. The drums have the classic deep house shuffle, and the bassline is the understated funk that Zowie is so good at. Chords are teased all the way through, adding bags of atmosphere. The Cloudshapers remix takes things in a more deep direction, with slightly more focus on the vocal, but giving it a more late night feel. Great stuff. https://www.traxsource.com/track/7219783/september-at-the-after-party-original-mix
