business whenever possible, or, if you have a spouse or good friend, a two-person
business. It’s simple. It’s clean. You already know each other. You can work together.
But I can’t anticipate your situation, so be creative. Your situation may be a good one
for several people working for you, or with you. Take advantage of whatever works best
for you. Start small. Build slowly. Stop building when you have the income you want, and
the free time you desire for the beach, trips, hikes, visit the ex, etc. (Kidding about the ex)
Note: If you want to go into the JE business with someone else, be careful how you
register the business. If you and your spouse, for example, are both the business owners,
then a clever JD can claim that you’re representing the other person in court. So, my non-
lawyerly recommendation is to have ONE business owner, and the OTHER an
“employee”.
HOMEWORK:
Google around tonight and find out what
it takes to be a process server in your state
or county.
In some states, there are only a few
requirements, or none. Others have more
(AZ and NYC, for example). In most
states you need fingerprints, a clean
record, and a bond costing $150 or so.
