Judgment Enforcement – The Step-by-Step Course

                                                     PART FOUR

                                 65 Minutes
                                            HOW TO TAKE ASSIGNMENT
                                               ON A GOOD JUDGMENT

                                                           Step 1

                    We don’t have clients!

This really isn’t a step. It’s just a reminder because it’s so darn important.
When we contact a Creditor, or take assignment, the Creditor is NOT our
clientU. A client is someone you work for. If you run a rotor-rooter business, then your
client is the person who owns the toilet that you come to . . . unplug. (Ugh) If you are a car
mechanic, then the client is the fellow who pulls in for a tune up or oil change.
In this business we have NO clients. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. We do not work “for”
the creditor. We do not “represent” the creditor.

Here’s the point (please pay attention): If you call the creditor your “client,” then it

sounds like you are representing him or her in court. You are therefore practicing law
without a license. You are then guilty of UPL- Unlicensed practice of the law.
Again, we represent ourselves only. That right is guaranteed in the constitution. But we

do not, and cannot, represent others. UYou should not ever use the word “client.”U It can
get you in a lot of trouble with the court. I’ve had attorneys say to me, “Get back to your
