Judgment Enforcement – The Step-by-Step Course
Calling the Creditor?
I strongly recommend calling the creditor if you can get his or her
number through 411 or one of the databases. If you write them, they may not
read it, or set it aside until . . . forever.
Here’s what I say when the Creditor answers the phone:
Mr. Smith: Hello?
Me: Mr. Smith, my name is Peter Gilboy, and I have a company called Judgment
Trackers. I enforce judgments. I see that in 2017 you had a judgment against Mr. Jones for $16,000. Can I
help you?
or
Mr. Smith: Hello?
Me: Mr. Smith, I’m calling about your court case against Mr. Jones. My name is Peter Gilboy, and I
enforce judgments. If you haven’t gotten your money yet, I’d like to talk to you about collecting it.
Usually the Creditor is quite happy to hear from me. Sometimes they even have more
judgments. Or they might tell me that the judgment was satisfied. (Saves me time to know
that.) They’ll almost always have lots of information.
Here’s another sample script:
Me: Hello? Mrs. Green, my name is Peter Gilboy and I enforce judgments for a living.
I’m calling about your court case against David Sanders in March of 2016.
Mrs. G.: Yes? What is it?
Me: I came across the case file and saw that you haven’t gotten your money yet. I’m
calling to see if I can help. I’ve already located Mr. Sanders, and believe I can collect the
money.
Mrs. G: Oh, my. I don’t know. Wait a minute. How much will this cost me? You know,
that guy already cost me a lot of money.
Me: I handle all costs. If I don’t recover the money, it costs you nothing.
Mrs. G. Okay…..Hmm.
