Let’s remind ourselves of the task here. You’re planning on taking
assignment of a court money judgment where the person can pay it.

1. Jeeze, You’re Amazing!

Now that I’ve been in business for a time, I regularly get calls from people wanting me
to enforce their judgments. I always stop and take the time to chat with the creditor. He or
she has been hurt somehow, and I’m not going to brush that off. I’m concerned. Of course
I am!

While the person is on the phone, I get a name and old address of the JD, and look him
up. I may then mention the town where the debtor lives, that he just got married to
“Jenny,” or that he’s driving a red Mazda, something else. The creditors are impressed.

“HOW DO YOU KNOW ALL THAT?” Suddenly I’m a genius (which I’m not. You can
ask my ex-wife).
