                      Things get brighter at Protec
October 06, 2017
UAE: Protec has purchased several new lighting systems from various manufacturers, adding to its rental inventory. This includes 96 Robe points and 28 Spikies, as well as 48 Claypaky Scenius Unico fixtures and a pair of MDG ATMe hazers.
‘We have noticed that the Pointe is becoming more popular on tour riders so to cater for that demand we have ordered 96,’ revealed Aaron Russ, head of lighting at Protec. ‘They are a great beam light but they also cross over into the spot category. The Spikie has a powerful LED light source with colour mixing which is something a lot of beam fixtures lack.
With a peak power draw of 100W and being LED, it only uses the power it needs at that moment, unlike discharge fixtures that are at full load constantly. It also has a neat beam splitter to give a modern twist on the old school flower effect. I am really excited to get these things out on a show.’ He also praised the lightweight portability of both Robe fixtures, which comes in handy for touring applications.
‘Also on the list is Claypaky’s Scenius Unico,’ Mr Russ continued. ‘The fixture is a true hybrid, operating as a beam, spot, profile and wash light. Coupled with a 1,400W Osram discharge lamp, they pack a huge amount of power. These have boosted our existing stock of Scenius Profile, that have proved so popular.’
Delivery of the new lighting fixtures and hazers is scheduled for mid-October. www.productiontec.com (http://www.productiontec.com)
