5.3 HOUSEHOLD MEASURES AND METRIC LENGTH
                                                HOUSEHOLD MEASURES
                                        1 foot (ft) = 12 in

                                       1 inch (in) = 2.54 cm
                                       1 meter (m) = 100 cm = 39.4 in
                                                                     = 3.283 ft

5.4 HOUSEHOLD MEASURES AND METRIC VOLUME
                                                HOUSEHOLD MEASURES
                                  1 teaspoonful (tsp) = 5 mL

                                   1 tablespoonful = 3 tsp = 15 mL
                                         (tbs)
                                      1 glassful = 8 fl. oz = 240 mL

                                     1 fluid ounce = 2 tbs = 30 mL

               5.5 APOTHECARY AND AVOIRDUPOIS
The apothecary measurement uses grain (gr), scruple (s), drachm (dr), ounce (oz) and
pound (lb). The avoirdupois measurement uses ounce (oz), pound (lb) and ton. Most of
these measurements have been replaced by the modern technique – the metrics, but some
remains and are still being used until current time. Those remains are listed in the table
               below.
                                                   WEIGHT MEASURES
                                     1 ounce (oz) = 28.35 g

                                     1 pound (lb) = 454 g
                                         1 kg = 2.2 lb
                                        1 ton = 907.2 kg = 2000 lb
