PLANEHEAD FILEFISH (Stephanolepis hispidus) < 25 cm / 10 in
Tan to brown or gray body with darker blotches. Straight forehead at a 45-degree angle. Found in the shallows.
FRINGED FILEFISH (Monacanthus ciliatus) < 20 cm / 8 in

ORANGESPOTTED FILEFISH (Cantherhines pullus) < 20 cm / 8 in Orange spots on the body. Small white patch at the upper base of the tail. Shy, found close to the reef.
SLENDER FILEFISH (Monacanthus tuckeri) < 10 cm / 4 in Elongated snout. Large dewlap on the belly. White reticulated body pattern. Found hiding in soft corals.
