Three Ways to
Use the Combined Gas Law
The Combined Gas Law can be used in three different forms:
1. Using the pressure, volume, and temperature variables (we’ve discussed this method already).
Sometimes, we will not be given information about all three variables, so we will have to use the other options:
2. Using just the pressure and temperature and crossing off the volume. The new equation would be P1 = P2
Whichever variable remains constant (question will tell you), T T cross it out and solve remaining equation 1 2
T1 T2
3. Using just the volume and temperature, and crossing off the pressure. The new equation would be V1 = V2
