 Indirect Relationship between Properties
   1. When one factor increases, the other factor decreases. When one factor decreases, the other factor increases.
2. This can be shown as two letters next to each other.
PV (or P x V)
This shows an indirect relationship:
When the pressure increases, the volume decreases. When the pressure decreases, the volume increases.
Here’s an indirect relationship: The more computer games I play, the less studying I do.
             More Y 1 Less Y
Less X
More X
When there is ‘More Y’, there is ‘Less X’.
Find ‘1’ on the chart. You will see that on the graph, the ‘1’ hits ‘More Y.’ But if you trace the ‘1’ down, you will hit ‘Less X.’
When there is ‘More X’, there is ‘Less Y.’
2 Find ‘2’ on the chart. You will see that on the graph, the ‘2’ hits
‘More X.’ But if you trace the ‘2’ across, you will hit ‘Less Y.’
