   Temperature (Rate of Reaction)
How the Temperature Affects the Rate of Reaction:
• An increase in temperature (kinetic energy) causes an increase in the rate of reaction.
ŠWhy? Higher temperatures make the molecules
move faster, which causes frequent and effective
collisions.
• A decrease in temperature (kinetic energy) causes a
decrease in the rate of the reaction.
When there’s a fire (increased temperature), there are lots of collisions between people trying to escape. Increased temperature causes increased collisions.
