Concentration (Rate of Reaction)
How Concentration Affects the Rate of Reaction:
• When the concentration increases, the rate of the reaction increases. Why? When there are more
particles, more collisions happen. With gases: Increased pressure
causes increased rate of reaction. More pressure causes the particles to be more concentrated, so they bump into each other more.
If more people enter a room and it becomes crowded, it’s more likely that people
will bump into each other. When there’s
an increased number
of reactants (more particles), the rate of reaction increases (more collisions happen).
