• If there is an increase in the concentration of only one of the reactants, the reaction will shift to the other side, but the other reactant will decrease.
A + B ⇄ AB
If we increase the concentration of B (and not A) 1. The reaction will shift to the right side. 3. 2. The concentration of AB will increase.
The concentration of A will decrease.
• If you decrease only one of the reactants, the reaction will shift to that side, and the other reactant will increase.
A + B ⇄ AB
If we decrease the concentration of B (and not A): 1. The reaction will shift to the left side. 3. 2. The concentration of AB will decrease.
The concentration of A and B will increase.
