  THERE IS AN ABUNDANCE OF RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE
Each of us has valuable resources to appreciate and share with others, but too often we overlook our own and others' riches, especially if they take an unexpected form. When we face a challenge, we're likely to look to our usual sources of abundance, and if they aren't available to us, we don't know where to search next. We don't see the resources right in front of our eyes.
I remember watching the movie The Pursuit of Happyness, which is based on a real story about a man named Chris Gardner who struggled to take care of his young son while homeless and trying to better his situation. It's an inspiring story of dreaming big and persevering, but as I watched the main character in the film, played by Will Smith, desperately looking for a place where he and his son might be able to sleep for the night, I wondered, Is he really using all his resources? Doesn't he have any friends or family to call? Isn't there a social services agency that could help him find a place where he and his son could both stay? Why not knock on the door of strangers and see if they could take his son and him in or help in some way? Being self-directed can be a wonderful quality, but we don't always have to solve all our own problems.
Even if we were to run out of money or credit, most of us have someone who can help us out in some way, if only we would just ask for assistance. Look at how complete strangers responded to the Hurricane Katrina disaster with money and practical aid, even offering their spare bedrooms to those who were left homeless. People were incredibly resourceful in finding ways that they personally could help the residents of New Orleans and other areas that were
