feel those emotions.
I eventually figured out why I'd created feelings of low self-esteem and unworthiness as a child, and I recognized that I didn't have to feel that way anymore. I made up my mind to stop re-creating these negative emotions in my life as an adult, because they weren't serving me. Every time I caught myself feeling unworthy, I observed what I was doing, stopped judging myself, and simply decided, I don't like this feeling, and I'm going to feel something positive instead. Then I switched into worthiness, abundance, joy, or faith, imagining what it would feel like to experience that emotion, and imagining so well that I actually created it.
When you switch out of negativity, it doesn't matter which positive emotion you choose to switch into because every one of them has the power to lift you out of fear, guilt, and other dark feelings and into positivity. Each positive emotion raises the level of your other positive emotions and causes you to feel deserving of the gifts the Universe has ready for you.
One of my favorite strategies for switching out of negativity is to wave my hands in front of me as if I were pushing away a cloud of smoke. Then I'll close my eyes, take a deep breath, and ask myself, What emotion would I like to feel right now? Whatever it is, I'll access a memory or an imaginary scene that has the power to create it in me. If I need confidence, I'll remember an occasion when I was confident and create in my mind a little film clip of what I was doing at the time. I relive my moment of confidence and re-create that feeling. (If you've never felt a particular emotion, you can imagine what it might feel like and envision a scene in which you're experiencing it.)
Right now, I want you to recollect a time when the Universe was giving to you and you felt rich and abundant. Maybe it was when you were enjoying sitting on your newly delivered sofa for the first time, running your hands along the material, feeling tremendous abundance as you enjoyed your purchase and your ability to pay for it. Maybe it was when you were a child and you came home from the drugstore with a bagful of candy that you bought with your allowance and you reveled in the thought that you could enjoy all those goodies.
