  Healthy Choices
Eat well and stay hydrated. During this final trimester, continue to eat nutritious foods and drink plenty of water—10 to 12 large glasses per day.
Prevent disease. If it is the cold and flu season, make sure to get your flu shot. The Tdap (whooping cough) vaccine will be offered to you between 27 and 36 weeks. Whooping cough is a very contagious disease that can be deadly for babies. It is also important for anyone who will have close contact with your baby to receive their Tdap boosters.
Kick counts. You should be aware of baby’s movements several times throughout the day.
Birthing plan. If you haven’t already, you’ll want to work with your doctor to complete a birthing plan. This information will provide our medical team with your labor and delivery preferences so your birthing experience will be the best it can be.
Another important reason to have a birthing plan is that while our practice is to have you deliver with the physician of your choice, in some instances, the on-call physician may not be your established doctor. If this is the case, they will give the same level of expertise and allow you to follow your established birthing plan.
Labor environment. When it comes to labor and delivery, Grove Creek Medical Center offers a premier birthing center. Our staff is highly skilled, kind, and thoughtful. Additionally, our state-of-the-art facility is beautiful.
Grove Creek Medical Center’s private birthing rooms have adjustable birthing beds, which can be broken down for delivery. Each room also has a 26-inch LCH cable television and full-size leather couch for friends and family to use while visiting.
We would love to give you a tour of our birthing center.
